Four regions, four different seasons
Pick the place and the month together. Here is what each region offers, when it is at its best, and how long to allow.
Komodo and Flores
Komodo dragons on Rinca and Komodo, pink-sand beaches, manta rays and some of the most reliable snorkelling in Indonesia. It is the easiest first charter, because Labuan Bajo has direct flights from Bali and Jakarta.
- Best months
- April to December
- Suggested length
- 4 to 7 nights
- Usual start
- Labuan Bajo
Raja Ampat
A remote archipelago off West Papua with limestone islands, lagoons and the highest coral and fish diversity recorded anywhere. It is further and slower to reach, so it rewards longer charters.
- Best months
- October to April
- Suggested length
- 7 to 10 nights
- Usual start
- Sorong
Banda Sea
The Spice Islands: volcanic cones, old nutmeg forts, reef walls and very few other visitors. Itineraries are long and depend on the weather, and they are often linked with Raja Ampat or Komodo.
- Best months
- September to November
- Suggested length
- 10 to 14 nights
- Usual start
- Ambon or Sorong
Bali and Lombok
Shorter trips from Bali's harbours to Nusa Penida, the Gili Islands and Lombok's southwest bays. A good fit for celebrations, long weekends, or a first taste of charter before a longer trip.
- Best months
- April to October
- Suggested length
- 3 to 5 nights
- Usual start
- Bali
